Our Story

Bananas

Team Bananas are an eclectic team, all living in the UK. But, our origins are quite diverse, spanning Austria, the US and from south to east across the coasts of the UK.

Friend on land, we are brought together by the love of sailing, and we all race a wide variety boats from dinghies to Volvo 70s.

The idea ofcoming to race in the Half Ton Classics Cup in Norway was inspired by Martin Kamperhaug, after he met one of our crew whilst he was racing in the 2022 edition of the race in Cowes, UK.

When Martin kindly offered a boat to our UK team, we jumped at the chance to race in new waters in such a beautiful country.

We´ve been made very welcome by members of the Half Ton Class, who´ve made it incredibly easy to join the festivities.

Special thanks to Martin, Stian, Mia and Trine for providing the boat, collecting us at the train station, taking us food shopping, and providing agorgeous roof over our heads.

We are now ready to embrace the challenge of getting the most out of a new boat and a newcrew configuration. But most especially, we are looking forward to a week of fun! If wecan’t rock the sailing, we`ll absolutely rock the dance floor.
