Our Story

Général Tapioca

We are a bunch of friends (mainly vintage) who has been sailing together for many years, all together close to 30 HTC participations, classic or not.

Philippe bought the boat in 1983 and she accompanied him during all those years of regattas, (He was sometimes a bit unfaithful but always returned to his first love!). Général Tapioca raced even once double handed to the Azores and back (AZAB) but that was obviously the limit for a Half Tonner!

The lady in question is a Berret-design from 78 and was built in La Rochelle. Since then, she has beenregularly upgraded; a new keel in ´98, a new rudder in ´16 and a new carbon mast in 2018. The cold molded wooden hull is of course entirely original.

There are many excellent boats available at the moment but getting and keeping a good crew together is the real challenge. It´s a long process full of good surprises, human and nautical, but it really makes the difference.

We see this event as a great opportunity to navigate in aparticularly attractive area. Also, a first time for us outside the EU.

Général Tapioca took part to all HTCC since the revival in 2003. We hope to continue.
